In times when contemporary art criticism often reduces itself to name dropping and the popular marketing strategy of branding, discussions of individual works are of particular importance. Swiss art historian Dieter Koepplin presents such a work here on the sculpture Snowfall by Joseph Beuys, which is housed in the Kunstmuseum Basel. Snowfall, created in 1965, is one of the few sculptures that Beuys has released to the public as a standalone piece. This can be interpreted as a sign of the object's special quality and strength.
