Just a few hours after the Württemberg regent Carl Alexander suddenly passes away in 1737, his secret financial advisor Joseph Süsskind Oppenheimer is arrested. The charge is treason. She also reveals who Joseph Oppenheimer was as a person before he became a literary figure in Lion Feuchtwanger's work and a propagandistic enemy image for the Nazis.
