Fritz Stavenhagen, born in 1876 in Hamburg, was a trained druggist, but even during his apprenticeship, he began to pursue his desire to become a writer by educating himself independently. In 1903, he moved to Berlin, where he was fortunate to be discovered and financially supported by Otto Brahm, the then director of the German Theater, which allowed him to create freely. Shortly before his early death, his work "Jürgen Piepers" was performed at the Thalia Theater. This Low German play is, like much of his other work, characterized by naturalism. The present book is a high-quality reprint of the 1905 edition.
