Bambert is small in stature and leads a reclusive life. His whole heart belongs to literature: he is not only very well-read but also a great poet. However, only he knows this, as no one has yet been allowed to read the stories he has collected in a book. One day, Bambert decides to release all his stories from his book and send them out into the world with the help of small Japanese balloons, so they can find the places where their narratives unfold. To one balloon, he attaches an envelope with blank pages for a final, special story that, since it must truly happen, should tell itself. Impatiently, Bambert waits for the return of his stories. Gradually, they come back, and Bambert is pleased to see that each has found its rightful place. Only the last story remains lost. Then he notices...
