The house stands still and dark, everyone is asleep. Only the mouse Marlene is awake. Then the old Mugelmann arrives, who can't sleep again. One by one, everyone shows up: Klaus, the gardener, Fritz, Fanni, the clown, Mrs. Roundly, the pug, Habakuk and Nepomuk, Ruth and Wanda, and - as a special guest - the crocodile. It gets louder and more colorful until finally the commotion comes to an end. The lights go out and the house stands there again as it did at the beginning: still and dark.
