Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1947) is primarily known as the author of "Principia Mathematica," which he co-wrote with his student Bertrand Russell. However, Whitehead's true achievement lies in his extensive writings on the philosophy of nature. Although he started as a mathematician and physicist, his interests increasingly shifted towards theology and cosmology. His aim was to develop a system that encompasses all of reality, taking into account both scientific experience and aesthetic, religious, and ethical dimensions.
