At the center of this neighborhood guide are six walking tours that explore the key areas in the heart of Altona: Altona Old Town, the waterfront from the Fish Market to the Elbe Beach, Altona North from the Altona train station to Schulterblatt, and from the Holstenstrasse S-Bahn station to the site of the planned New Altona Center, as well as Ottensen and Bahrenfeld from the Bahrenfeld S-Bahn station to Volkspark. The tours are complemented by a chronicle that includes important dates in the neighborhood's history, along with sections titled "People," "Shops," and "Neighborhood Topics." Excursions focus on particularly characteristic aspects that define or have defined Altona and Ottensen: sports, especially football, the Danish history of Altona, as well as the theaters and culture of the neighborhood.
