This introduction provides a social science perspective on the complex conditions and expressions of deviant behavior. From an educationally emphasized and psychoanalytically grounded socialization perspective, criminological theories of deviance are related to the challenges of educational coping and integrated into an interdisciplinary model of the constitution of deviant behavior. In the concluding section, the findings are prepared for practical application in education and social work.
