It is mostly young women with foreign roots who find themselves in forced prostitution. Due to ignorance and immense pressure, they have little trust in helping institutions. Often, trauma complicates the work of professional actors even further. This foundational work provides a comprehensive description of the phenomenon for the first time and addresses not only risk factors but also legal, socioeconomic, psychological, technical, police, and educational implications. The authors outline conditions for successful interdisciplinary, theme-sensitive counseling and prevention work in this field.
