With this book, the authors provide staff in the fields of youth welfare, youth career counseling, vocational training, secondary schools, and youth probation with a medium for the professionalization and quality assurance of their work. The first chapter presents the state of research on the concept of social competence. The second chapter describes the theoretical foundations of a training program for social competence. This is followed by the training program "Fit for Life," including the results of its effectiveness. The program aims to improve both the social competence and employability of young people by developing and promoting social skills and cognitive abilities. In doing so, it also prevents behavioral problems and disorders such as aggression, enabling young people to acquire these skills.
