Adam Kadmon means "original man" or "cosmic man." Philo of Alexandria refers to him in Greek as Adam Kadmon, uranios anthropos, which means "heavenly man." Adam Kadmon is the original Adam, before original sin, understood as the archetype of humanity who "looks at God face to face." The earthly man is his image and represents Adam after original sin. The earthly man has lost the essential qualities of wisdom, glory, and immortality. The human ability to think purely is connected in this book to Adam Kadmon, then to the first Adam, and in all glory to the second Adam.
