The analog media, once thought to be dead in the 1990s, seem to still haunt our digital media culture today. The fetishization of the analog and its aesthetics has long permeated the everyday lives of those who were already socialized with computers and mobile phones: software filters give smartphone photographs a trendy Polaroid look, and the crackling sound of vinyl records is mixed into digital music productions. Notably, those aspects that were once experienced as disturbances or noise are now often considered guarantees of a privileged experience.
