The case of Schreber is a classic of psychoanalysis - countless writings have been produced about him. And yet: Daniel Paul Schreber (1842-1911) is a case unto himself, for unlike the saints of psychoanalysis, he never made himself comfortable on the couch of a psychoanalyst. Thus, we are dealing not with an interpretation, but with the autobiography of a madness, with the rare and uniquely detailed case of a paranoid person recording his worldview in his own words and in a language that has not yet been constrained by theoretical frameworks. If there is a text in which it speaks, it is here - in this work that oscillates peculiarly between delusion and method, whose dual nature of Kantian clarity and flourishing madness suggests that madness is not entirely other.
