The book joyfully accompanies teachers and theater educators in locating themselves within the complex system of theater pedagogical practice and thought in a human, aesthetic, and educational way. Theater creators are invited to recognize, create, and shape their own play and possibility spaces in order to ultimately bring their unique interpretation of reality to the stage—consciously, competently, well-founded, and contextually appropriate. The authors assume that the didactic approach to any theater pedagogical process is primarily a matter of one's own attitude. Three fundamental clarification processes are initiated for theater pedagogical work: essential terms such as didactics, methodology, theater, and pedagogy are explained to reflect on them, relate them to each other, and derive a didactic model of systemic theater pedagogy from this. The WHAT of one's own theater pedagogical approach is clarified through didactic questions: What do I specifically want to achieve with my work? What is my profile as a theater educator? What do I think about my respective target group? Through conscious didactic considerations, a meaningful and substantial foundation for the HOW is created. Each director can select from the wealth of methods those that enable authentic and competent guidance, thereby facilitating a successful theater pedagogical process.
