Audiovisual media play an important role in the leisure activities of students. They can be used in a variety of ways in German lessons. In film discussions, the analysis of cinematic techniques, or when writing about films, students can bring in their personal prior knowledge and practice competent media usage. The focus of this volume is on feature films and, in connection with that, on reception-oriented approaches. The extensive practical section of the book demonstrates, using film examples for all grade levels, how a film can be viewed, understood, described, and ultimately integrated into students' own interpretations of a theme, conflict, or context.
