With volume 92, the correspondence between Karl May and his most important publisher during his lifetime, Friedrich Ernst Fehsenfeld, is now complete. Volume I covers the period from 1891 to 1906, while Volume II spans from 1907 until May's death in 1912. The Karl May Verlag was founded in 1913 by Dr. Euchar Albrecht Schmid, who personally knew Karl May, May's widow Klara, and F. E. Fehsenfeld. Today, the publishing house is run by his grandson Bernhard Schmid in its third generation. By the end of 2008, the famous green-gold series of the collected works of Karl May will consist of a total of 90 volumes (Volumes 1 to 88, as well as 91 and 92), along with numerous special volumes. The title is also available as an e-book.
