Product details
Franz Kandolf's thrilling Karl May pastiche, created in the 1930s, connects thematically to events from volumes 2 and 3 of the collected works, "Through Wild Kurdistan" and "From Baghdad to Stambul." The mysterious old Marah Durimeh sends a letter and an amulet to Kara Ben Nemsi, asking him to take care of Ssali Ben Aquil. This character, who is actually a minor figure in Karl May's work, is now placed at the center of Kandolf's continuation story. The two sons of a Kurdish chieftain have been kidnapped by the vengeful and gold-hungry Sekmet Beg. Together with his companions Hadschi Halef Omar, his son Kara Ben Halef, and the inevitable Sir David Lindsay, Kara Ben Nemsi not only rescues the two boys but also discovers a rich treasure of gold that Sekmet Beg and the Persian customs officer Hussein Ali have stolen.
