In the land of fever in Basra, Kara Ben Nemsi and his loyal companion Halef encounter outcasts. After a serious illness, the mysterious valley of the Dschamikun is supposed to bring healing to both of them. There, they experience the customs of Eastern religiosity with their host, the Ustad. "In the Realm of the Silver Lion" is the first volume of "The Shadows of Ahriman." The continuation is "The Petrified Prayer" (Volume 29). In a broader sense, these volumes are a continuation of volumes 26 "The Lion of Blood Revenge" and 27 "At the Ruins of Babylon," but they also serve as an autobiographical key novel, inspired by May's impressions from his great journey to the East in 1899/1900. The original title of this formerly four-volume travel narrative was "In the Realm of the Silver Lion I-IV." The title is also available as an e-book.
