Product details

Karl Moser (August 10, 1860 - February 28, 1936) is one of the great figures who established modern architecture at the end of the 19th century and further developed it well into the 20th century. As a professor at ETH Zurich, he was the influential mentor of a young generation of architects seeking new paths. Like Peter Behrens in Germany or Hendrik Petrus Berlage in the Netherlands, Moser was already revered in Switzerland during his lifetime as the "Father of Modernity"; the professional community celebrated the Antoniuskirche in Basel, built between 1924 and 1927, as a landmark of exposed concrete architecture that garnered attention beyond the borders of Europe. Along with his partner Robert Curjel and Hermann Billing, Karl Moser was one of the representatives of the progressive "Young Karlsruhe School" around 1900. The prosperous partnership Curjel & Moser, founded in 1888, came to an end in 1915.
