Old and young, rich and poor, men and even individual women meet at the Karnak Café, drawn in by the good coffee and the vibrant Kurunfula, a former dancer and owner of the café. They share stories from their lives, exchanging joy and sorrow during many leisurely hours. When three young regulars suddenly disappear and later return disturbed, the cheerful café atmosphere comes to an end. What was once an oasis of camaraderie turns into a place of suspicion, where the old familiarity among people struggles to survive. Established shortly after the Six-Day War in 1967, the Karnak Café is an important historical document that remains disturbingly relevant to this day.
