Among the exercise and test books, GM Karsten Müller's Chess Tactics holds an outstanding position, as can be inferred from the success of the English first edition. This work, now available for the first time in German translation, comprises a total of 565 puzzles from the realm of tactics, covering all phases of a chess game. The first part of the book presents all conceivable elements and motifs of chess tactics in a concise manner, linking each with a series of educational exercises primarily aimed at advanced beginners. The second part offers test problems of varying difficulty, appealing to the ambitious club player up to the master level. The examples are mostly drawn from contemporary tournament practice and are often at grandmaster level. Brief hints (solution aids) for the tasks complete the offering.
