He is a Choctaw by birth, raised in Oklahoma, and has lived in the reservations of the Cheyenne, Crow, and Sioux in Manitoba and Montana. Jamie Sams is a medicine teacher and a member of the teacher lodge of the Wolf Clan from the Seneca Nation. By descent, she is Iroquois and Choctaw. She has been trained in the medicine of the Seneca, Maya, Aztecs, and Choctaw. During the 1970s, Jamie learned from teachers of the Maya and Aztecs in Mexico. She has taught in England, France, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and Guatemala, as well as in the United States.
