"My spaces do not think about whether they are art," says Katrin Brack. And yet: Why does this question always arise when viewing her stage designs? The description of what this exceptional set designer has been asserting in theater for years often seeks a reference to the visual arts. There are gently moving fog walls across the stage, plays in constant rain, in a shower of confetti, in a snowstorm. Then a single tree, a sky full of swings, full of light bulbs, full of sparkling garlands. One views her spaces like moving sculptures, installations, ideas made tangible, transformed into a radical signification, turned into metaphors.

Her works rigorously address the emptiness of the stage through the ever-present absence of things. Reduction. We see space-time as it plays with volume in invisible and fleeting lines: a theater of time.
