Franz Köcher's standard work on Babylonian and Assyrian medicine, which aimed to present copies of the texts along with translations and commentary, remained unfinished at his death in 2002. Six volumes of transcriptions, each with brief introductory comments and quotes from parallels and duplicates, were completed. The publication of the series is now being continued with Robert Biggs and Marten Stol as new editors. The new volumes contain complete translations and philological commentary, thereby making the Babylonian-Assyrian medical texts accessible to medical historians in current research.
