For children, homelessness can be difficult to understand at first. In this sensitively written book, a young boy discovers that homeless people do not choose to sleep on the streets, but lead challenging lives and have fallen into poverty for many different reasons. For example, Mr. Antonio once had many pets, studied, and worked until life took an unexpected turn, and he has now been living on the streets for over 30 years. Homeless people do not have a home to protect them from rain, heat, or wind, nor a bed to stretch out on after a long day. Many of them are completely alone. The helpful little boy shares food, warm clothing, and above all, kind and loving words with the homeless people.
