Product details

The Celts are the first people north of the Alps whose name we know. Around 500 BC, Greek writers mention the Keltoi - Celts - who live at the sources of the Danube, that is, in southern Germany. They also left numerous traces in Franconia, as evidenced by various archaeological finds of the so-called La Tène culture, named after a site in Switzerland. The accompanying volume to the exhibition of the same name opens various windows into their distant and sometimes so foreign world. It illuminates their history, their settlements, their burial rites and religious beliefs, as well as aspects of their vibrant economic life, monetary economy, artistic and craft production, and finally, the rather unremarkable end of Celtic culture in Franconia.
