Product details

For Christoph Michl, our Earth has become the mother of all living things. To get to know her better, he trekked and traveled through over forty countries in Africa, Asia, and South America. This journey inspired many of his poems, which express his wonder and admiration for nature, as well as for the diverse people and cultures he encountered. He also addresses the seasons of the year and life, conveys feelings of longing and love, and crafts wise sayings. He particularly describes the beauties of nature, such as mountains, gorges, waterfalls, snowy landscapes, rainforests, beaches, seas, the sun, and the starry sky. At the same time, he does not shy away from critiquing economic and environmental policies, religious beliefs, and the behavior of the population. Through his poems and rhythmic verses, Christoph Michl aims to inspire his fellow humans to adopt a sense of responsibility towards both the Earth and each other. His fundamental concern is to develop a new religious consciousness, similar to that of indigenous peoples: the Earth, our common mother, should be loved and revered. It is remarkable that these verses were written shortly after 1979, a time when Michl's commitment to environmental protection, love for the Earth, and international understanding was hardly taken seriously. Fortunately, this is no longer the case today.
