Peter Behrens (1868-1940) was one of the most innovative architects and designers of the early 20th century. He is considered a pioneer of modern industrial design. His buildings and designs continue to shape our everyday life to this day. As the chief designer for AEG, Behrens not only created one of the most famous buildings in industrial architecture, the Turbine Hall in Berlin-Moabit, but he also developed the company's logo and corporate design—long before these terms even existed—establishing a consistent appearance for all products and advertising materials, from stationery to advertisements. In his work as a typographer, Behrens also designed enduring trademarks, such as the famous inscription "Dem deutschen Volke" at the portal of the Reichstag building in Berlin. This book is published in honor of Behrens' 150th birthday on April 14, and to accompany the major exhibition.
