Product details
The dormouse is a characteristic species of diverse forests and shrublands. Its ability to hibernate has always fascinated naturalists. However, the secretive lifestyle of the dormouse means that it has been seen by very few people, and little is known about its way of life. It is only in recent decades that there has been a more intense focus on this species, partly because it has significant conservation relevance. As a species strictly tied to woody habitats, the dormouse is particularly sensitive to habitat loss and fragmentation. Detailed knowledge about its biology and requirements is essential for the protection of this smallest native dormouse. The authors present results from their own field research over the past 25 years and experiences from public outreach projects related to the dormouse in the context of international literature.
