In this book, Hans Weicker tells an almost forgotten chapter of German colonial history: it is about the area of Kiautschou on the Yellow Sea, which was leased by the Chinese Empire from 1898 to 1914. The author was on-site at that time as a naval chaplain - the area was under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Naval Office due to its significant port - and with his book, he paints a unique picture of that era.
