As the editor-in-chief of Titanic, Martin Sonneborn founded The Party in August 2004 to rebuild the wall. A few weeks later, Forsa surveys showed that 21 percent of Germans could identify with this initiative. Today, The Party has over 8,000 members in both East and West, and people still say, "My grandfather was in the party, I want to join you too!"
