The school for the blind in Tibet, founded by Sabriye Tenberken, is now run by students from the first generations. Other former students operate an inclusive kindergarten, a massage clinic, or are pursuing their studies. They started life under very difficult circumstances, yet they have realized their dreams. These successes encouraged Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg to establish the kanthari institute in southern India’s Kerala - a campus for social visionaries from around the world who belong to marginalized communities. Steve comes from a region near Lake Victoria, where more than 30 percent of the population dies from the effects of AIDS. Initially, he took in the children of his relatives, and now he runs a home for AIDS orphans, providing them with encouragement and newfound self-confidence through theater and film projects. Jayne is the only person with light skin in her environment.
