Product details

Eva Menasse's report on a trial of the century. The trial, which begins in London in January 2000, is unparalleled. Without eyewitnesses and with top historians as expert witnesses, in a certain sense, the Holocaust is put on trial. David Irving, referred to by American historian Deborah Lipstadt as "one of the most dangerous Holocaust deniers," presents his perspective in court. While he continues to deny the existence of gas chambers, he claims to be defamed by Lipstadt and asserts his right to freedom of speech. In the UK, in defamation cases, the burden of proof does not lie with the plaintiff but with the defendant. Therefore, the defense has summoned some of the world's leading Holocaust experts to demonstrate both Irving's unscrupulous handling of facts and the systematic nature of the murder of European Jews by the Nazis.
