Product details

In 1933, "The Mass Psychology of Fascism" was published for the first time. The book came too late to reach many readers: it became the reading material for emigrants and remained largely without consequence. Meanwhile, a critique of fascism (not just the German variant, but fascist structures in general) can no longer be conceived without Reich. Reich's clinically and sociologically trained perspective revealed the fundamental connection between authoritarian drive suppression and fascist ideology. He analyzed the gestures, phraseology, moral schemata, and actions of "Hitlerism" and demonstrated a shift from sexual anxiety to a mysticism that perverted human capacity for freedom into an irrational mechanism of chronic dependency. The third, expanded, and corrected edition, which Reich completed in the USA in 1942, is the first version.
