At this point, it becomes clear how profoundly these children are affected by their parents' illness. Once this stage is reached, the question often arises whether these children can remain in their families or if they need to be placed in a foster family or a home. However, such situations can be avoided if families are offered support and if the ill parents are made aware of their right to be unwell.
