Practical Experiences with the Math 2000 Early Education Program

Mathematical early education can already lay the groundwork for a basic understanding of mathematics in preschool, preparing children playfully for the upcoming math lessons in elementary school and sparking their interest in mathematics. The aim of this book is to highlight the necessity of early mathematical support and to sharpen the focus on professional quality in this field. At the center are 12 practical reports from various countries that illustrate how collaboration between elementary schools and kindergartens can be organized while considering local circumstances, and how kindergartens can also take initiative on their own. These reports are framed by fundamental considerations regarding the goals, content, and principles of 'genuine' mathematical early education, which is specifically oriented towards classroom instruction.
