Product details

The poor tailor's apprentice Wenzel Strapinski arrives in the Swiss town of Goldach during his travels and is mistaken for a Polish count due to his noble appearance. Lacking the courage to clarify the misunderstanding, he becomes increasingly entangled in his own web of lies. When he unexpectedly wins the heart of the beautiful district officer's daughter Nettchen, he fully embraces the role of the Polish count. This continues until his old master appears in Goldach and recognizes Strapinski as the poor little tailor. Gottfried Keller's famous novella about bourgeois life between appearance and reality is transformed into a magical reading experience for both young and old classic fans aged 6 and up in Barbara Kindermann's sensitive retelling. Sybille Hein has created wonderfully lively illustrations for this cheerful mix-up story.
