In the already published volume Church History II/1, the external aspects of the church during the 4th to 7th centuries were illuminated: the relationship of the church to the state, to other religious groups, and to political events. Church History II/2 describes, against the backdrop of late antique culture, the internal aspects of the church during that time: the dogmatic development and the spiritual and ethical unfolding of the Christian faith, including liturgy, charity, monasticism, and veneration of saints.
