In the development of non-imaging optical systems, the geometric modeling of optical surfaces plays a significant role. The mathematical algorithm for dimension calculation generates optical freeform surfaces using a direct, non-iterative computation method based on the photometric specifications of the optical designer. The presented method is particularly suitable for systems with very small light sources, such as LEDs, laser diodes, and gas discharge lamps.
