This work investigates the optimization of energy efficiency in bipedal robots through the use of elastic couplings. The robots under consideration are modeled as underactuated systems and controlled using input-output linearization. To examine the impact of the elastic couplings on energy efficiency, as well as stability and robustness, both the movements of the robots and their elastic couplings are optimized in parallel using numerical algorithms.
