In the attempt to clarify the concepts of "free will" and "determinism," one encounters many subfields of philosophy: analytical philosophy, logic, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of law, and so on. Ultimately, however, the discussion always revolves around the mind-body problem. In many publications, the distinction between free will and freedom of action is blurred. This distinction will be consistently highlighted here. Is there even such a thing as "freedom"? And what kind of freedom is involved in the freedom of volitional decisions?.
