This work describes a method for the precise localization of rail vehicles using only an eddy current sensor system. The speed is obtained using time-of-flight correlation methods and a Kalman filter. The detection of switches is achieved through the use of hidden Markov models. The fusion in a topological map, based on sequential Monte Carlo methods, ultimately provides the desired position information.
