Product details
In northern Thuringia lies the approximately 267 km² large South Harz Nature Park. It borders the South Harz Karst Biosphere Reserve to the east and the Harz Nature Park to the north and northwest. It includes parts of the South Harz, the gypsum karst landscape with its dolines, stream sinks, karst springs, sinkhole lakes, and gypsum cliffs, as well as the adjacent Zechstein belt. Numerous bat species inhabit the many caves, and orchids bloom in the dry grasslands. With a bit of luck, you may spot the fire salamander while hiking, and the southern slopes are characterized by a remarkable diversity of species and floral splendor. The former inner-German border, the Green Belt, can be hiked along the Harz Border Trail. The newly updated second edition of the cycling and hiking map for the South Harz Nature Park presents the entire nature park with its cycling and hiking trail network in a detailed scale of 1:25,000. The precise representation of the stamp points of the Harz Hiking Badge makes it easier for hikers to find the most beautiful excursion spots in the Harz region. An integrated UTM grid allows for orientation in the terrain using a GPS device, and a terrain shading visualizes the low mountain range.
