Hiking in Thuringia is very popular, not just among Thuringian hiking enthusiasts. This was impressively demonstrated by the response to the first edition of our hiking book "W wie Weg - Thuringia on Foot." Therefore, the editors of the Allgemeiner Anzeiger set out again to explore interesting, dreamy, or challenging trails and viewpoints in Thuringia with local hiking experts. In addition to cozy short circular routes, such as the Laura-Bahn experience trail in Frauenwald, the wildcat trail in Hainich, or the circular path around the Alexanderturm in Ruhla, there are mainly medium routes, like the circular path around the Hohenfelden reservoir, the Novalis trail near Jena, or the monastery path to Paulinzella. Experienced hikers will also find challenging trails, such as the Wilderer trail in Gehlberg or the border trail tour in the South Harz.
