Product details

Starting from the experiential qualities referred to as "thrill" in English, Michael Balint describes two different behaviors towards the world: the "oknophilic" and the "philobatic." This distinction has led to interesting conclusions in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields, particularly regarding object relations, the handling of fear and aggression, autoeroticism, love and hate, as well as the ability to reality test. Michael Balint, who has become widely known for his studies on the doctor-patient relationship, presents a new psychological typology here. He distinguishes between two main behaviors towards the world: the oknophilic and the philobatic. The former is characterized by a person's clinging to their love objects, seeking protection and pleasure in this clinging.
