Mentalization-based therapy (MBT) is an effective approach for patients with difficulties in emotion regulation. Recently, it has also been successfully applied to depression. This foundational book clearly connects theory and clinical application. The author first presents an integrative model of depression genesis from the perspective of mentalization theory. Using clinical case examples, she explains step by step how mentalization processes can be impaired and how they can be restored and promoted through mentalization-based therapy (MBT). This book aims to bridge the gap between a mentalization-based theory of depression and its clinical application. The theoretical section initially addresses the genesis of depression from attachment and developmental psychological aspects.
