Not only in his diaries, but also in the more reflective form of the essay, Jünger engages with the experience of war, particularly in the fourteen-part treatise "The Struggle as an Inner Experience," as well as in "Fire and Movement" and "On Mobilization." In the essay "Peace," Jünger addresses the youth of Europe and the youth of the world, dedicating it to his fallen son of the same name. In this work, Jünger outlines a new order of peace, which ultimately proved to be a utopia. In the subsequent essayistic reflections "On the Line," "The Forest Walk," and "The Gordian Knot," Jünger critically examines and historically characterizes the world situation in the post-war period, especially at the beginning of the 1950s, which was heavily influenced by the dualism between the Soviet Union and the USA.
