An aspiring journalist travels from Istanbul to his homeland at the Turkish-Syrian border. There, he searches for traces of a friend and comes across the accounts of young Yazidi women who managed to escape from ISIS. He becomes increasingly immersed in a whirlpool of current and past stories, passions, and violence, which forces him to reevaluate his origins and his life. When Ibrahim, who leads a busy but ordinary life in Istanbul, learns of the death of his childhood friend Hüseyin, he returns to their shared hometown of Mardin for the first time in many years. Following in his friend's footsteps, he learns about his mysterious fiancée Meleknaz. Fascinated by the stories of the young Yazidi woman, he delves into the myths and traditions of her culture and encounters a group of women who were able to escape from ISIS captivity.
