The present atlas covers the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear, as well as the temporal bone and its neighboring relationships. The outer ear is depicted with its development and developmental disorders, cartilage, skin areas, ligaments, vessels, and nerves, as well as the external acoustic meatus. The development of the middle ear, the ligamentous apparatus, and muscles of the ossicles, particularly the vessels, folds, and recesses, have been examined in detail. A separate chapter is dedicated to the auditory tube and its surroundings, while another focuses on the mastoid cells, their tracts, and their medical significance. The inner ear section addresses developmental processes and developmental defects. This chapter also includes the topography of cranial nerves VII, intermediate, and VIII, as well as canal systems and bone structure. Finally, the access routes to the cerebellopontine angle and the internal acoustic meatus are discussed.
