Albrecht Dürer
German, Schauerte, Thomas, 2014Product details
The year 1928, which was internationally celebrated as the 400th anniversary of Albrecht Dürer, marks an interesting phase in Dürer research: Between the national-conservative mindset of the German Empire and National Socialism, the 1920s were predominantly shaped by left-liberal art historians who questioned the prevailing doctrines. Nationally and internationally respected art historians and experts contributed their latest research findings at that time. In this volume, Dürer expert Thomas Schauerte presents five of these contributions, which provided crucial impulses for our current assessment of Dürer's work and were published in the journal Cicerone in 1928, and he comments on them with expertise.
